PURPOSE: To provide instructions for implementing a natural gas curtailment.
APPLICABILITY: Minnesota Correctional Facility-Rush City (MCF-RC) Plant Operations and watch commander.
INSTRUCTIONS: For alternate fuel switch over during natural gas curtailment, staff will follow procedures below.
Alternate Fuel – a back-up source of heating fuel. MCF-RC uses fuel oil as back up.
Minnesota Energy - a UtilitiCorp corporation that is the supplier of natural gas for MCF-RC.
Physical Plant staff - Physical Plant Director, Corrections Electronics Systems Supervisor, and the Building Maintenance Supervisor.
A. At least 12 hours prior to a scheduled natural gas curtailment, Minnesota Energy will initiate the process via telephone call to the watch commander at (320) 358-0479.
B. The watch commander will immediately notify Physical Plant staff of the up-coming curtailment. Physical Plant staff will call in the appropriate Plant Maintenance engineer to ensure switchover to fuel oil within the allotted time frame.
C. When the natural gas curtailment ends, Minnesota Energy will notify the watch commander via telephone. The watch commander will notify Physical Plant staff. Physical Plant staff will call in the appropriate Plant Maintenance engineers to ensure successful switch back to natural gas.
D. The watch commander will note activation of this procedure in the Watch Report.
