Board of Pardons

Board Meetings

The Board of Pardons meets twice a year, once in the spring and again in the fall. The Board consists of three members: the Governor, the Attorney General, and the Chief Justice of the Minnesota Supreme Court.  Each of the members has an equal vote, and votes to grant clemency must be unanimous.

The meetings of the board are open to the public, and all applicants are expected to appear before the board at the meeting so that the members can ask any questions they may have.  The board is particularly interested in hearing about involvement in the community and any accomplishments that would warrant their attention, and appreciates having at least one other person appear with you at the hearing who can speak about your growth and accomplishments.
