Victim Assistance Program

Safety Planning

If a victim or a witness is being harassed, threatened or receiving unwanted contacts from a Minnesota Department of Corrections' inmate, he or she should report the behavior to the offender’s case worker at the correctional facility.  To locate an offender’s case worker go to www.doc.state.mn.us, click on “search offender records” and “offender locator”.

A victim or witness can also contact Victim Assistance Program staff  at 800.657.3830.  Staff will help in working with the correctional facility to address the unwanted contact.

If the actions are in violation of a court order, appropriate disciplinary action may be taken against the inmate.  The victim can be kept informed throughout the process.

If the actions are in violation of the Department of Corrections' direct order for no contact, the offender will be disciplined within the Department of Corrections.
