Probation Officers Location: The Department of Corrections Field Services supervises juvenile and adult misdemeanor, gross misdemeanor, and felony level offenders on diversion, probation, parole, and supervised release. Over 54 Field Services offices are located throughout the state of Minnesota. Contact the District Supervisor from the list below. Internship Description: The intern will obtain knowledge and understanding of how the criminal justice system works in general, specifically related to the area of probation and parole. The intern will meet with assigned offenders and complete required investigative and progress reports. Interns will assess offenders risk levels, provide referral services, monitor compliance to court order/releasing authority conditions. Interns will keep agents informed of offender adjustments. Participate in special assignments as directed by supervising agent. Complete offender drug testing. Supervision: Interns will be supervised by a Corrections Agent. Requirements: Interns must be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university in a program, which offers course credit for internships. Applicants should have completed introductory course work in criminal justice, criminology, corrections, psychology, sociology, social work or related field. Intern must clear a security background check and follow department policies and procedures. Length of Internship: 1 Semester, negotiable and flexible.
