Internship Information
 

Position: Office of Diversity Research Analyst

Location: Department of Corrections, St. Paul MN

Description:  An intern in this unit would assist the Office of Diversity in organizing, cataloging, and researching.  The work would include, database creation, statistical research analysis, sorting, cataloging, updating records, and data entry. The intern would gain knowledge and understanding of how the criminal justice system, the Affirmative Action Laws, and the Affirmative Action Plan and is developed. All interns would be trained on DOC policy and procedure.

Supervision: Interns will be supervised by the Manager of the Office of Diversity.

Requirements: Interns must be currently enrolled in an accredited technical college or university in a program, which offers course credit for internships.  Interns should have completed courses in Basic Statistics, Cultural Studies, Human Resources, Political Science, Sociology, or/and Public Affairs.

Experience working with/in:

  • Microsoft Word
  • Microsoft Excel
  • Applicants should also have the ability to operate a fax machine, copy machine, and basic email systems.
  • Statistics
  • Knowledge/Experience with Diversity Programs/Initiatives/Affirmative Action

 

Preferred: (but not required)

  • Microsoft Access

Length of internship: 8-10 weeks/negotiable 300 - 400 hours

Application priority deadline date: 
April 1 for Summer session
August 1 for fall session
November 1 for winter session

Note:  This internship is unpaid
