Corrections Program Therapist 1 – Mental Health

Salary Range:  $16.97 to $24.61 per hour; $35,433 to $51,386 per year

** Positions may be eligible for the Corrections Employee Retirement Program **

Work Locations:  Positions may occur at Minnesota Correctional Facilities located in Faribault, Lino Lakes (Twin Cities Suburbs-North), Moose Lake/Willow River, Oak Park Heights, Red Wing, Rush City, St. Cloud, Shakopee, Stillwater, and Togo.

Job Duties:  Under supervision, function as a behavioral health practitioner providing mental health care to offenders with mental illness, including the responsibility to provide security, assessment, education, and therapeutic programming.

Minimum Qualifications:

EDUCATION:
Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Work or a related Behavioral Science or Social Science program.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Training or experience in providing behavioral health treatment, including individual and group therapy methods and practices.

Knowledge of professional, legal and ethical standards; best practices; and community standards of care.

Skills in verbal and written communication, including proficient documentation skills.
 
Interpersonal/human relations skills.

Basic personal computer skills.

Ability to formulate and implement an individualized treatment plan; provide mental health treatment; and develop a continuing care plan under supervision.

Ability to teach a psycho-educational course; effectively function within a multi-disciplinary team; exercise sound judgment; and demonstrate appropriate professional boundaries.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree in Psychology, Social Work or a related Behavioral Science or Social Science program.
