Licensed Practical Nurse 2

Salary Range:  $16.50 to 22.90 per hour; $34,452 to 47,815 per year

***Positions are eligible for the Corrections Early Retirement Program.***

Work Locations:  Positions may occur at Minnesota Correctional Facilities in Faribault, Lino Lakes (Twin Cities Suburbs-North), Moose Lake, Oak Park Heights, Red Wing, Rush City, St. Cloud, Shakopee, Stillwater, Togo, and Willow River.

Job Duties:  Perform advanced, practical nursing work, which includes administering medications to offenders; performing initial health screenings and history summaries; and assisting providers and Registered Nurses in the delivery of offender health care.

Other duties include taking temperature, pulse, respiration and blood pressure readings; assisting in the development of offender health programs; transcribing and initiating physician orders according to established policies and procedures; teaching offenders about basic nutritional needs and how to maintain a balanced diet; keeping clinical charts and reports on the physical and emotional state of offenders; and administering emergency first aid.

Minimum Qualifications:  Graduation from an approved school of nursing AND current licensure in Minnesota as a Practical Nurse AND experience sufficient to perform advanced practical nursing duties.
