This unit is instrumental in the developing and maintaining a statewide, collaborative offender reentry business model for offenders, government agencies and community partners.  The unit works closely with the DOC Transition From Prison to the Community (National Institute of Corrections model) Steering Committee.  The unit also pursues and oversees state and federal grants, service contracts and legislative appropriations to carry out reentry programming, both within and outside of the department.

The facilities reentry program manager initiates and supports reentry focus at department facilities and works to create collaboration and cooperation with county, state and federal agencies. The facilities reentry program director develops and supports facility program services and community resource delivery that prepare offenders for release and support them as they move into the community. The community reentry coordinator builds relationships with a wide variety of community resources, provides agency access for them, and supports specific community reentry initiatives. The Minnesota Circles of Support and Accountability (MnCoSA) coordinator creates and supports restorative justice circles that engage community members with specific offenders pre and post release.
