MCF-Lino Lakes consists of medium-security and a minimum-security unit located outside the perimeter with a population of 1,300 adult males.  This facility has the highest concentration of educational and treatment programs.  In many cases offenders serve the final phase of their sentence at MCF-Lino Lakes so they can obtain the services they need to prepare for release.

Notable features include:

Chemical dependency programming is provided in TRIAD, a 380-bed therapeutic community.

Lino Lakes is also the site of the department's Sex Offender Treatment Program, which can house 270 offenders. Research suggests that participants in the program committ new offenses at a significantly lower rate than untreated offenders.

Lino Lakes is also the site of the InnerChange Freedom Initiative, a faith-based program funded and operated by Prison Fellowship through a partnership with the corrections department.

The facility opened in 1963, originally served as a juvenile facility. In 1978, the institution was remodeled and converted to an adult facility.

Visiting - Lino Lakes

NOTE: Anoka County will be constructing a new roundabout at the intersection of Apollo Drive (CSAH 12) and Sunset Avenue (CR 53) in the cities of Blaine and Lino Lakes. Construction will take place at the intersection of Sunset Avenue and Apollo Drive from June 20 to August 19. This section of road will be closed. Sunset Avenue (on the North side of the bridge) will be closed up to Marvy Street, thus making the intersection of Apollo Drive and Sunset being closed during this construction project. Traffic South of the 35W bridge on Sunset Road should detour on Elm Street just before the bridge; driving past St. Joseph's Church and the schools to Lake Drive then turn left heading North to Apollo Drive by McDonalds. See the attached map with the closure location and alternate routes.
